“I am ordering the SolGen to write Aguinaldo a letter and ask Aguinaldo to conduct and audit dyan sa Red Cross na ‘yan,” saad ni Pres. Duterte.

Sinabi ni Pres. Rodrigo Duterte na inutusan niya si Solicitor General Jose Calida na sumulat kay COA chief Michael Aguinaldo para agad na i-audit ang Philippine Red Cross na pinamumunuan ni Sen. Richard Gordon.

The President restated his plan to have the PRC audited in a pre-recorded public address aired Thursday morning, Sept. 16.

“Ang hinihintay ko lang (What I’m waiting for is)– the next step would really be the letter to be delivered to COA regarding my request to audit Red Cross,” he added.

Senator Gordon has been accused by President Duterte of using the PRC, which he chairs, as an election campaign fund.

Despite being a non-government entity, Malacañang has asked that the COA audit the PRC because it accepts government funds.

President Duterte indicated last week that if the COA refuses to examine the PRC’s use of funds from the Philippine government, there will be a long legal battle.

“Any money belonging to the government of the Republic of the Philippines given to the agency, whatever be the nature, if they are operating here and you receive the money and spend it, you are accountable to the government and therefore an audit is in order,” Duterte said in his pre-recorded address last week.

If Gordon refuses to open up its documents and subject to a state audit, Duterte has threatened to stop the government’s transactions with the PRC.
